Raw & Cooked Weight Calculator

Choose your food and cooking method, then get an instant estimate for your portion.

Your portion before cooking, rather than the total amount you cooked.

I know the weight before and after cooking

Enter the total weight of the same edible food before and after cooking, excluding containers. We use this ratio to convert your portion above. Changing food or method clears these measurements.

Example: 500 g of raw chicken becomes 375 g cooked. A 150 g cooked portion corresponds to about 200 g raw.

When does conversion help with food logging?

Nutrition entries sometimes refer to raw food, while you weigh your portion after cooking. Converting its weight can help you log a closer quantity. If your app has a reliable entry for the same food in the same cooked state, conversion may be unnecessary.

Why does the weight change?

Food absorbs or loses water during cooking. This tool converts weight; it does not calculate calories. Added oil, sauces, discarded liquids and fat losses can change nutrition, so conversion does not guarantee unchanged calories or macros.

How do I use my actual weights?

Open “I know the weight before and after cooking” and enter the total amount before and after cooking. We apply its cooked-to-raw weight ratio to your portion. Weigh the same edible food, excluding bones, removed peel and containers, and log additions separately.
